STATE FARM: NOT THE SAME

State Farm is back for another season of football, continuing to highlight how having insurance isn’t the same as having State Farm. The campaign makes clear:  in both football and insurance, “close enough” isn’t nearly enough. It’s about showing up with the right team: trusted, proven and built to protect when it counts.

Four spots, created by TMA, blend culture, humor and a diverse mix of star power to cement State Farm’s place at the intersection of sports and culture.

One commercial, “Trainer,” teams Jake from State Farm with Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Meghan Trainor in a playful spot to show that having Meghan Trainor isn’t the same as having a certified athletic trainer — just as when it comes to coverage, having insurance isn’t the same as having State Farm. The spot also features Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes and athletic trainer Julie Frymyer.

A second spot, “Captain,” highlights the not-so-subtle difference between a sea captain and Aidan Hutchinson, Detroit’s defensive captain. Because when you need a real leader, there’s no room for stand-ins.

“Guard” contrasts the protection of Mahomes’ teammate, offensive guard Trey Smith, with a school crossing guard. And  “King Henry” brings a royal twist, contrasting the prowess of Baltimore star Derrick Henry (nicknamed King Henry) and actual royalty.

Noted Alyson Griffin, State Farm Head of Marketing, “Football season is one of the rare moments when the whole country comes together to watch, making it a powerful stage for brands to shape culture. State Farm has become synonymous with sports and that’s not by chance — we are intentional on how we show up season after season. Built on a simple truth that having insurance is not the same as having State Farm, we are bringing this message to life with humor and star power from both on and off the field including Meghan Trainor, Patrick Mahomes, Derrick Henry, Aidan Hutchinson, Trey Smith and Jake from State Farm. It is a reminder that whether it is on the field or with your insurer, you want the best and close enough just does not cut it.”
